MOVE Week in Spain: Creating digital tools to stay active during the pandemic fight

The 9th MOVE Week is about to go live all across the globe, and Spain will be one of the first countries to start its celebration on 21 May.

This year, we are taking a new approach to the MOVE Week which resonates with the conditions that many people around the world are experiencing because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Together with our NowWeMOVE campaign National Coordinators and MOVE Agents, we are combining our efforts to show the importance of staying active even during these times – and making the event as flexible as possible by inviting people to register digital (online) as well as traditional (offline) events.

In order to help their fellow citizens find their move during the lockdown, our partner in Spain, Deporte para la Educación y la Salud, has created a comprehensive user-friendly guide explaining the types of actions people can take to celebrate the digital MOVE Week and measures to be aware of while being active outdoors.

As the brochure aims at promoting benefits of regular participation in sport and physical activity, it reminds citizens to make sure to add some exercise to their daily routines. Also featuring recommendations for a healthy sleep and hygiene routine, as well as maintaining an adequate diet, this helpful tool can be used by anyone who feels dazed and confused about looking after their health under lockdown.

We could not agree more that even in these times we can encourage everyone to enjoy the benefits of physical activity such as raising endorphins and strengthening our immune systems. And, of course, finding some new MOVEs together on or offline.
