“What an amazing place”: Laska Nenova shares her insights from move week Latin America and SESC São Paulo

ISCA’s NowWeMOVE campaign manager Laska Nenova is in São Paulo, Brazil, this week speaking at the Semana Internacional Esporte pela Mudança Social (SIEMS) conference and being there to witness the fruits of ISCA and our members’ successful roll-out of MOVE Week (Semana Muévela) in 15 Latin American countries. Over 10,000 events are taking place from 23-30 September during the Latin American MOVE Week.

Laska visited ISCA member Sesc 24 de Maio in São Paulo and was struck by how perfectly it captures the essence of MOVEment Spaces.

What an amazing place. It is not just the building but how it is done with a focus on people.

Apart from the functionality and the beauty of the building are all the services provided for the community – the eighth to the tenth floors are reserved for sports activities, children and exercise room and body activities. On the eighth floor are climbing walls that can also be used by non-members. There is also a gallery, which is a floor set aside only for workshops, and a separate floor for dentist services.

The highlight is the swimming pool located on the roof with a panoramic view of the city.

No, this is not a facility providing services only for people with money. It is a facility that provides for the community, with optimum membership fees, high quality fitness, culture, education, social connection and educational services.

And throughout this week there are a number of free sporting activities being held there for MOVE Week (Semana Move in Brazil and Semana Muévela in 14 other Latin American countries).
