We run a multi-sport weekly activity for girls aged 5-9 in north inner city Dublin that aims to provide a gateway towards a lifetime of sports participation in their own community, providing health benfits and life skills in a fun environment. The girls are coached in a variety of sports with age-appropriate coaching that aims to equip them to fulfill their sporting potential in a range of sports. This week, our girls will play the Irish game Camogie using hurls (wooden sticks), First Touch sliothars (soft balls slightly bigger than tennis balls) and bean bags. The girls will play a variety of fun games for 1 hour each aimed at improving their fundamental movement skills. Camogie is the female version of Hurling and is very popular amongst Irish girls. It fosters discipline and hand-eye coordination in a team environment.
