Réka Veress National coordinator MOVE Week Hungary

Name: Réka Veress

Country: Hungary

About me: I have been always fascinated by doing sport for my own fun. I tried many kinds of team sports, but my personal favourite has always been volleyball. Not watching but doing! ;) After studying international studies and in parallel recreation and health development at another university, I started to work at the ministry responsible for sport as an officer for EU and international affairs. I still hold this position.

My daily exercise: Cycling to work

My vision: I think that people should do sport for recreational purposes. Sport for all has benefits for everybody. Diversity and regularity brings fun and balance, so let’s aim to practice different types of sports per week (e.g. swimming, yoga, aerobics, etc).

My MOVE Week story: I have been following the activity of ISCA in recent years. We were have regular contact with their representatives at different kinds of EU meetings and also during the Hungarian EU presidency (2011). In 2013 my ministry co-organised a conference with EPAS (Council of Europe) in Budapest, which happened to be during MOVE Week, so I decided to involve the participants in the MOVE Week spirit. In 2014 I have more responsibilities, because the previous coordinator has travelled abroad, and now we are working together on the promotion of ISCA’s initiative.
